What Is An iPhone?

iPhone is a name which is used for many mobile products, but it actually means a series of smart phone, which was released by Cupertino, of Apple Inc. (California) in year 2007. This iPhone is touch screen utility and this mobile device uses this provision as a primary mode of interface. iPhone is enabled with advanced features of messaging, internet connectivity etc. Features of the iPhone can be classified according to three classes- media, applications and hardware.

Hardware components of iPhone
Hardware of the iPhone is an exclusive feature of the phone. This phone is based on the technology of touch screen. iPhone doesn’t contain any keypad. But, screen of the phone displays a virtual keypad, this lack of hard keypad provides to a great advantage to the size of the screen. Screen of the iPhone is larger then any other advanced phone. Advanced accelerometer feature of the iPhone changes the display of the screen, according to vertical or horizontal viewing. To store the data iPhone also possesses an internal drive (flash memory). List of other hardware components include- light sensors, speakers, digital camera, Wi-Fi connection facility, A-GPS and Bluetooth.
iPhone is also enabled with an exclusive media player. Songs can be easily transferred to the flash memory of the phone from normal computers and iTune stores. This feature helps in having easy portable music at finger tips. Screen of the phone provides matchless clarity.

Applications of iPhone
Applications of the phone represent the technical support of the device. This phone is enabled with most advanced applications. Web browsing, media player etc are few applications of the iPhones. Another exclusive application of the phone is the facility of A-GPS. With this feature iPhone behaves just like some ocarina i.e. it shows the exact location of the phone on a particular map. With this feature a person can get locations of hospitals, restaurants, hotels and other important places of an unknown area. Some of these applications are entitled by Apple Inc. itself but other are provided by third electronic parties.

Locking concept
iPhones are sold as locked devices only, so that a particular phone can be used in a specified service area only. This is for the benefit of particular service providers and for security purposes. For example- in USA the service providers of iPhones are AT&T, so iPhones of any other service provider are banned in USA. But some countries don’t allow locked iPhones to be sold freely, so in that particular areas unlocked iPhones are also available. Hackers are also able to unlock the iPhones, but this is illegal and a punishable offense.

Various iPhones
It’s important to mention over here that Apple Inc. is not a first company of the world, who released iPhones. In year of 1998, a company named InfoGear Technology Corporation launched a phone that was having same features as iPhone excluding A-GPS. Moreover, Cisco have also been released a VoIP (voice over internet protocol) iPhone. Cisco launched this phone through one of its divisions (Linksys) in 2006.
