Those who have seen U-Boat watches knew that U-Boat watch has an unusual design. They are very stylish and very personal. Moreover, the replica U-Boat watches also have their own styles and these watches are hot selling in the market.

 

Watch technology can get a little mind-numbing for all but the hardest core aficionados. The young company—its original designs were commissioned by the Italian war department in WWII, but nothing left the designer’s desk until Italo Fontana made dreams a reality in 2000—launched a number of innovative styles at the Basel watch show this spring, including the Flightdeck 50 Titanium and the Thousands of Feet Cab 3. But now it gets serious with the introduction of Ratrappante, U-Boat’s first complication watch.

 

Complications are simply all the extra little dials and “added value” on better quality U-Boat watches, but they’re hardly simple to craft. Fitting in a whole extra set of tiny gears to work in concert with the primary dials ain’t easy. In U-Boat’s case, they’re going with a split seconds chronograph, with an additional seconds hand measuring intermediate times while the primary chronograph operates continuously. Why would you need to time two events? Oh, how about while diving and returning? Or keeping track of your competitors in the America’s Cup? Or perhaps simply timing how long it takes your buddies to suck down those sake bombs.

 

The limited edition Ratrappante (only 100 are being produced in the initial design) features a 50mm black dial and cream numbers, an alligator-and-rubber strap. Each watch has its own little engraved plaque on the right side of the watch case (crowns are always on the left side with U-Boat) with its own individual production number.

 

As an added style statement (and perhaps to squeeze in all the extra gears), U-Boat apparently decided they couldn’t go any larger on their already famously oversize faces, so they went thicker. Definitely going to have to have your tailor take that into account while customizing your next round of shirts. The U-Boat Ratrappante retails for about $14,750
