With their infectious blend of rock, grunge & blues, The Delta Routine is quickly becoming one of Milwaukee’s favorite groups. High octane rock ‘n roll inspired by classic rock greats like the Rolling Stones is the meat of a musical endeavor called “Donna,” the first full length album by The Delta Routine produced by Mike Hoffmann. Embracing the raw elements of guitar driven rock of new and old, singer/songwriter and guitarist Nick Amadeus creates memorable hooks and quirky riffs all while paying homage to the old days of rock ‘n roll. A strong local following paired with a powerful new album has The Delta Routine on a road to bigger and better things. Hold on tight.

Geri X. and Flatbear (Jentri Colello)
06/06/2009 9:00 PM
"Geri X's ace asset is her voice. It's a nail file to the heart, unsettling, captivating. While she has solid pitch, the singer embraces her imperfections. She's sublimely undisciplined, more concerned with pure expression than craft. Geri X inhabits her lyrics, and has a knack for making her vocals conversational even while carrying a tune. You can hear her hurt. She's by turns brash and tender, volatile and vulnerable.
On Anthems, that voice is pushed way out in front of strummed acoustic guitars, basic bass lines and distant drumming. The boys don't harmonize on the choruses, but then the choruses can be hard to determine in her intuitively penned, elliptical songs -- songs that can take a couple of listens to catch onto, songs that don't sweat rhyme schemes or follow expected chord changes.
Though the music can be opaque, even difficult at times, it has resonated profoundly with a wide array of fans from, literally, around the world."
Flatbear is the new moniker of the Madison band formerly known as Jentri Collelo.
"Here’s why Jentri Colello stirred up all that talk among local writers, record-store clerks, and show-regulars this year... Colello and band actually know how to create a mood—with grace and starkness" - THE ONION--A.V. CLUB
"One of the best things brewing in Wisconsin local music is Jentri Colello. If you’ve yet to see her at one of the venues about town or hear her gorgeous Bird of Prey EP, you’re missing out. I trust her success to continue well beyond the boundaries of the state line" --MUZZLE OF BEES
"Colello's crew builds the dramatic arc of each of her moody folk-rock tunes with startling control...when she's on, Jentri Colello takes over a room — completely." -- THE ISTHMUS
"They play some of the best music I've ever heard." --MISS THE SIGNPOST
"The band is terrific...Jentri's voice, sultry and smoky, it is absolutely hypnotic" --KIKI'S MAGICAL MUSIC REVIEWS

in the music business, it is a rare phenomenon to find a player whose zest for life is matched by his intensity onstage. Throughout his work, Andrew's versatile capabilities are reflected time and time again. On his new selftitled record, his inspirations are obvious, yet there is an authentic phrasing and style that is not heard too often. In his teen's he studied under renowned Milwaukee Blues guitarist Jeff Dagenhardt, and more recently with Internationally known Guitar whiz Greg Koch. Now 23 years old, Andrew has been playing guitar for more than a decade. His energy resonates through his guitar playing, powerful vocals and crafty songwriting. While rooted in the blues, he is easily adaptable to any style of music. His unique style is a combination of Blues fused with Psychedelic Rock. His lack of musical barriers has earned him a diverse listening audience and his music appeals to many ages and interests. I've heard people in the past say to Andrew, "I don't like the Blues, but I like you."

The Maze and Magic Black Pumas
06/19/2009 9:00 PM
The Maze will be releasing their first full length on this night !
The Maze is anchored by Hansen's poetic lyrics of love and loss, The Maze doesn't follow genre boundaries. Utilizing a variety of instruments from mandolins to electric guitars to ukeleles to random pieces of percussion, The Maze thrives on exploring the uncharted waters of experimental folk rock.
Magic Black Pumas are a rock band from Minneapolis. Sound is driven by melodic vocals laid over a heavy drum and bass groove filled out by innovative guitar. Focus is primarily on original material, but they do throw in some tasty yet obscure covers.
"The group plays solo-driven rock characteristic of early 90's rock radio, a little after grundge had left the building." -Chris DeLine writes in CITY PAGES

The Erotic Adventures of the Static Chicken
06/20/2009 9:00 PM
The Chicken have become an institution of great improve music on Tuesday nights at The Jazz Estate in Milwaukee.
Birds of a feather that create a rush of egg laying fury at the drop of a brown note... No two beaks are the same, as no two people are a bird. However, in this age of dullard migrations of termites it's nice to know that a simple group of dipshits can sustain a five year drinking binge and get paid for it. Glory to you oh dwarf of prey, the Chicken knows it's place is below the wonderment that is the uncorked brilliance of the winoelf. Notice the dollhouse that is weeping, and get your ass over to the Estate on Tuesdays to witness some stupidity, and music.
