Ethan Keller Group

08/01/2008 9:00 PM

----Ethan Keller is a songwriter with a unique story. This Midwestern son of a former Catholic priest and former nun possesses a simple musical vision: original and emotional art. His young sounding voice depicts youth and rawness, but his intelligent and poetic lyrics tackle mature subjects and often explore spiritual depths. His genre diversity echoes an eclectic personality. His stage presence emits experience. His groovy & driven, band-approach to songwriting reveals a hip, sophisticated vibe. ----------- ---------- Performing since age 13, Ethan comes from the Wisconsin coffeehouse, bar and outdoor summer festival scene, where cover bands rule, but where original talent is red hot. Whether it is recording at home in Milwaukee or in Grammy winning studios in Hollywood; seeing the country from mini-van or from the tour bus after winning Jim Beam National Band Search; performing for fifty jazz club patrons, hundreds of youths, thousands of festival-goers, or live on national TV; playing the biggest cities to the smallest towns; Ethan has seen many things you could, and couldn’t imagine.-------------- Ethan Keller’s solo debut in 2006, entitled “Face Light” receives great reviews, as well as local/regional airplay. Keller has sold a total of over 7000 records, and shared the stage with countless national acts. Having performed in 35 states, Keller relentlessly perseveres; always gigging, recording, and continuing to work at the musical career he was ordained to pursu

Back Yard Tire Fire

08/02/2008 9:30 PM

What the Press is Saying

"Backyard Tire Fire is great Roots/Americana rock n' roll. Equate the sound to how you feel when go to your nearest smokey bar, light a cigarette, order a bucket, kick back and kinda feel like you don't give a fuck. In other words, it's a real good feeling you get listening to these guys."
- Dodge, My Old Kentucky Blog

"23rd best album of 2007 - "Drive By Who? BTF elbows their way into the Southern Alt-country spectrum with this fine cd"
- Clyde, Radio Cure Blog

"What matters is good music, and on that point Backyard Tire Fire delivers big time. What they also deliver is a sound that is firmly rooted in the rich history of American music - rock 'n' roll, R&B, country, and folk to name but a few - while still being fresh and original."
- Chris Holmes, Blog Critics

"8 out of 10 stars - Backyard Tire Fire is a band so unique, distinct, amazing and talented."
- Evan Sawdey , Pop Matters

"By successfully working the borders and diving into country, blues, Southern rock and indie-rock and finding their commonality, Backyard Tire Fire has found something fresh and new within each one. "
- David Schultz , Earvolution Blog

"Vagabonds and Hooligans, is a career maker - a confident, shining example of songcraft at its finest akin to Randy Newman's 12 Songs, Drive-By Trucker's Decoration Day, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's Damn The Torpedoes. Played again and again, Vagabonds and Hooligans only grows in depth and charm."
- Dennis Cook, JamBase

"Ed Anderson can turn a lyrical phrase and a musical passage with the originality and authority of Neil Young, Jeff Tweedy, Jay Farrar and Gary Louris but, just as importantly, he writes songs that transcend any comparisons to his alt.country peer group."
- Brian Baker, Amplifier

Elf Lettuce and the Plutoniates

08/16/2008 9:00 PM

Based in Madison, WI, Elf Lettuce is a four-piece band that has evolved drastically since its inception in late 2003. The group’s sound is an eclectic mixture of many musical styles, firmly rooted in roots rock and blues. Elf Lettuce’s sound contains trace elements of folk, bluegrass, and funk rock also, being strongly informed by the American songwriting tradition. Elf Lettuce strives to perform with an exponentially increasing level of intensity, viewing every performance as an opportunity for musical exploration and growth, combining free-flowing improvisation with precisely executed composition to excite young and gracefully aging fans alike. ________________________________________________________________ The young band has performed regularly around Wisconsin and the Twin Cities since 2004, winning over new fans at every show and actively expanding their touring radius to more venues and festivals throughout the Midwest. Past performances have included The Feel Good Festival, Steel Bridge Song Fest, the Copper Fountain Festival, Multiple University Functions, Fund Raisers, Music Clubs, and parties. The group has had the privilege of sharing the stage with: Dr. Didg, Greg Brown, God Johnson, Down Lo, Family Groove Company, Green Lemon, Reptile Palace Orchestra, Reverend Eddie Danger, Stealin' Strings, Euforquestra, and a slew of others, and now has the honor of performing weekly before Clyde Stubblefield, the original "funky drummer" for James Brown. The group draws heavy influence from modern masters such as Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Band, Pink Floyd, and folksters Woodie Guthrie and The Weavers, to name a few. Elf Lettuce has been influenced by international, regional, subliminal, and local music on a scale far too vast to list concisely.

Freshwate Collins

08/23/2008 9:00 PM

Formed in Milwaukee, WI, in 1997, Freshwater Collins continues to slay audiences nationwide with their unique take on psychedelic rock and roll. Refusing to be pigeonholed as simply "stoner-rock," Freshwater Collins are currently working very hard on over-compressing their (already) big drum sounds and over-saturating the tape machine with extra guitar on their yet to be titled new album. The forthcoming record, recorded and produced by Beau Sorensen (Death Cab for Cutie, Sparklehorse), will be the bands fifth LP.

In the meantime, feel free to purchase (several copies) of their latest album release "These Days Lately". The band worked on the record with renowned producer Mike Hoffmann (Violent Femmes) for over a year to create this album.

Freshwater Collins are also building momentum through spirited live performances throughout the country as well as major festival performances alongside The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, The Go! Team, The Black Crowes, and Kings of Leon. "These Days Lately" is out now - go pick it up at your favorite record store or use the link below.

Doug Otto and The Getaways/Canceled

08/29/2008 9:00 PM

Doug Otto and the Getaways are a FIVE piece group performing original music and cover songs in old American music styles. Heavily influenced by delta blues and classic country songs, Doug plays the guitar and harmonica to accompany his singing. Rich Casey on the double bass with Chris Gray on the drums and backing vocals add a firm foundation to music with great sensitivity to the older stripped down versions of songs that have been sung and played for hundreds of years. Albert Perez on lead guitar adds an edgy and more spacious aspect to the music while holding great integrity to the song. Shane Akers plays electric lap steel guitar that can be classic country or raw edgy blues rock in sound. Otto and the Getaways perform original material with a range of influences. The blues scales and forms heavily influence the sound of Otto but the influences of classical music, simple folk songs hymnal music can be felt as well.
