Based in Madison, WI, Elf Lettuce is a four-piece band that has evolved drastically since its inception in late 2003. The group’s sound is an eclectic mixture of many musical styles, firmly rooted in roots rock and blues. Elf Lettuce’s sound contains trace elements of folk, bluegrass, and funk rock also, being strongly informed by the American songwriting tradition. Elf Lettuce strives to perform with an exponentially increasing level of intensity, viewing every performance as an opportunity for musical exploration and growth, combining free-flowing improvisation with precisely executed composition to excite young and gracefully aging fans alike. ________________________________________________________________ The young band has performed regularly around Wisconsin and the Twin Cities since 2004, winning over new fans at every show and actively expanding their touring radius to more venues and festivals throughout the Midwest. Past performances have included The Feel Good Festival, Steel Bridge Song Fest, the Copper Fountain Festival, Multiple University Functions, Fund Raisers, Music Clubs, and parties. The group has had the privilege of sharing the stage with: Dr. Didg, Greg Brown, God Johnson, Down Lo, Family Groove Company, Green Lemon, Reptile Palace Orchestra, Reverend Eddie Danger, Stealin' Strings, Euforquestra, and a slew of others, and now has the honor of performing weekly before Clyde Stubblefield, the original "funky drummer" for James Brown. The group draws heavy influence from modern masters such as Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Reed, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, The Band, Pink Floyd, and folksters Woodie Guthrie and The Weavers, to name a few. Elf Lettuce has been influenced by international, regional, subliminal, and local music on a scale far too vast to list concisely.
