Clovis Mann
04/24/2010 10:00 PM
One of the over-arching themes of the music of CLOVIS MANN is evolution. Dan Plourde, formerly of Run Side Down, brings his intuitive complexity to the band as he takes over the bass duties. Having been a friend of the Mann for years, Dan is locked in with Ethan Noordyk's persuasive percussion to create a formidable foundation. D.P. knows when to float in the pocket, but he is not afraid to add some fury to the mix. Vince Faris, keyboard maestro for funk machine Nuggernaut, is another fresh addition to the fracas. Vince cajoles, tickles, and wrenches notes and tones kicking and screaming from his arsenal of keyed instruments. The bubbly organ sounds add a vintage, smoky patina that elevates the band's overall intensity. Ethan still continues to wow audiences with his dexterity, ferocious chops, and impeccable taste. Having played over a thousand live shows, he knows how to work a crowd into a frenzy with his bombast and Bonham-like solos. Top it off with Daniel Walkner's soulful riffs, graceful bends, and slippery slides on lead, bottleneck, and lap-steel guitar and you have a rock solid recipe for greasy groove gumbo. The CLOVIS MANN live experience has always been an intense musical commitment. The swirling styles and fire-breathing vocals continue to bend genres and explore new musical territories.
